Albany Township Residents: Budget Approval/Mill Rate/Tax Bill Information
Albany Township Residents: Budget Approval/Mill Rate/Tax Bill Information
There is a meeting on December 28th for the residents to approve the 2024 Township Budget.
You can find the meeting notice, budget summary and detailed budget posted on townofalbanywi.com located on the Town Board page as well as the Events Calendar.
Once the budget is approved, Green County will work diligently to get tax bills completed as soon as possible.
The earliest they could have them posted online would be December 29th, POSSIBLY later the 28th.
If you go online to view your tax bill, you can pay by mail, at the banks that participate in the tax collection or directly at the Green County Treasurers office.
If you choose to mail the tax payment, to be sure you get credit for the current year, you will want to be sure the post office hand stamps the date.
If you choose to pay directly at the Green County Treasurer’s office, you can go during business hours, or there is a drop box on the East side of the building you can put your payment in.
Otherwise, most likely, tax bills won’t arrive in the mail until after the first of the year.
There is an option to pay your taxes PRIOR to receiving your tax bill. If you prefer to go that route:
You can pay up to the prior year tax amount, but no more than.
If there is a balance after paying, Green County will send you a balance owed. If you receive a refund, you can expect to receive the refund about 7-10 days after processing the payment.
IF AND ONLY IF the budget is approved on December 28th as is, the mill rate for Albany Township is estimated to be 0.0127512259.
To calculate property taxes:
Assessed Value / 1000 = _____
Take ____ * mill rate = property taxes
For example:
If your assessed value is: 200,000
200,000 / 1000 = 200
200 * 0.0127512259 = $2,550.00
